A CIA drone strike kills at least two people today in Datta Khel in North Waziristan, Pakistan.
Allegedly, rescue work was delayed as drones hovered over the strike area. Previously the US’s use of “double-tap” strikes would target and kill first responders, and it seems they have found a new way of terrorizing local populations inclined to help out in an emergency without necessarily killing more people. The Nation reports that the Predator-drone missiles were fired at a residential compound:
According to details, the US drone fired missiles at a residential compound in Muhammad Khel village of Tehsil Boya in North Waziristan Agency (NWA) near Afghan border.
The house was completely destroyed resulting in death of two militant suspects and leaving several others injured.
AFP reports that one of the individuals targeted was a “foreign national – a term officials use to describe al Qaeda linked militants.”
